As we celebrate Black History Month, we honor the often-overlooked histories of Black individuals with disabilities – stories of resilience, activism, and contributions that have shaped both racial justice and disability rights movements.
Through our “Intersection of Race & Disability” project, the Consortium has worked to uncover and share these powerful narratives, shedding light on the experiences of people of color with disabilities whose stories have too often been erased from history.
Understanding this intersectionality is crucial in the pursuit of justice and equity. By acknowledging these histories, we reaffirm our commitment to amplifying marginalized voices and creating a more inclusive future.
